My love for dogs started while I was a kid growing up in Astoria Queens N.Y.in the 70's We live in a small apartment so my parents wouldn't allow me to have a dog of my own. One of my favorite things to do was to visit my cousins out on the Island who had plenty of property and lots of animals most of all dogs. He raised Great Danes and Cocker Spaniels and would let me read his books, one of the books I like so much that he gave it to me and it was on dogs of the world with a special section on rare dogs. Mastiffs were in that section. I fell in love with the breed right away and looked for books to read in my schools Library But couldn't find many. I knew that one day I would own one of my own. I relocated to florida in 1983 and purchased my first Brindle male Mastiff by the name of Twin, In 1998 I finally had enough property to start raising them for myself. This is now Old Town Mastiffs. The memories that I had so long ago of owning my own are now a reality for me . Our Mastiffs get plenty of excercise and are socialized with children and other small animals as well as horses. one of ther favorite excercises is to run along side the horses.
